- About This Wine
Les Pierrelles is a red wine from the Crozes-Hermitage AOC in the Northern Rhône region of France, crafted by winemaker Philippe Belle. This wine is produced entirely from Syrah grapes, sourced from terraced vineyards in the communes of Mercurol and Pont d'Isère. The vineyards are characterized by galets roulés (large stones polished by the Rhône) atop red clay soils, contributing to the wine's body and intensity. The grapes undergo a traditional vinification process in temperature-controlled closed vats, with total destemming, daily pumping over, and maceration with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged entirely in oak barrels for 14 months, using barrels aged between 2 to 5 years. The resulting wine is noted for its rich fruit profile and silky tannins, making it ideal for drinking young. Tasting notes include flavors of blueberry, violets, leather, and cedar. This wine pairs well with lamb chops or braised beef. (robertrolls.com)
